The Plight of the Marabou Stork - 'I am not Chicken'

Nicknamed the "undertaker bird" because of its sombre appearance, the Marabou stork plays an essential role in Africa's ecosystem, helping clean up carcasses and waste. 

But its unusual appearance raises a deeper question: why do we judge some creatures by how they look rather than the role they play?

"Even nature's undertaker has a vital role to play. Every species matters."

A recent post on social media with a photo showing a "boda boda" rider with a marabou stork tied onto his motorbike reveals the ugly truth about the fate of the marabou stork. 

"You will see them roosting on the trees opposite Nyayo Stadium or at Dandora dumping site. (Nairobi)
